BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
A few good questions.
What is Skalet?
Skalet is an unreleased PDF construction plan measuring app for iPad and iPhone. It helps contractors set drawing scales, measure lengths, save their work, and export marked-up PDFs. A square-footage prototype is now implemented in the development build.
Which devices and units does it support?
The current app targets iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. Measurements use imperial feet and inches. Android and a browser version are not currently available.
Can I use a resized or scanned plan?
Custom calibration lets you set a scale using a known dimension. Always check the result against another known dimension. Calibration cannot correct every kind of scan distortion, and source quality affects point placement.
Does Skalet need an account?
The current app stores imported plans, scales, and measurements locally on your device. It does not use an account or cloud sync.
Does it calculate square footage or concrete yards?
The current development build calculates square footage from simple closed polygons, with editable corners, saved areas, Undo/Redo, and PDF export. Physical-device acceptance is pending. Cutouts, area totals, concrete yards, and automatic takeoffs are not implemented yet. Area access will depend on the build offered to testers.
When can I download it, and what will it cost?
Skalet is still in development. Public download links and final pricing have not been announced. This page will be updated when beta or App Store access is available.
What should I verify before measuring?
Use current, legible plans, choose the correct scale for the detail, and verify against known dimensions. Display precision is not a guarantee of field accuracy. Check measurements against approved plans and field conditions before relying on them.
